Duration: 2 ½ Days
WFA + CPR courses will be beneficial to those working in companies, educational and outdoor organisations, sports bodies, government agencies like relief agencies, disaster management and paramilitary forces.
Course Length: 16 hours / WFA Certification valid for 2 years.
The WFA course provides a great introduction to wilderness medicine for anyone spending time in the outdoors. The course focuses on injury and illness prevention, patient assessment, long-term injury management, improvised splint and litter construction and environmental emergencies.
Approximately half of the course is classroom based lectures and half through practical scenarios.
Course Length: 4 hours / CPR Certification valid for 2 years.
CPR is an incredibly important skill, particularly in an urban environment. Our CPR courses are hands-on, practical and fun. Our CPR instructors are all current American Heart Association certified. We offer CPR certifications under the guidelines established by the American Heart Association for Heartsaver CPR.
Course Length: 8 hours / WME Certification valid for 2 years.
Our Wilderness Medical Essentials course is an awareness-level class, designed for individuals or organizations wanting up-to-date wilderness medicine information on topics such as wound management, management of hot and cold emergencies, basic splinting and wilderness improvisation. Like most of our courses, it is half didactic, half hands-on practical review.
Credibility of these certificates: Hanifl Centre has collaborated with Aerie Backcountry Medicine, Montana, U.S.A. to teach these courses in India. Aerie Backcountry Medicine has worked with other organisations in the USA specialising in wilderness medicine (e.g., WMA and WMI of NOLS), and under the guidance of the Wilderness Medicine Society, evolved a Scope of Practice (SoP) for courses. Hence not only is its content whetted but there is a review system in place where this SoP stands to be modified from time to time. Aerie Backcountry Medicine trained Indian instructors through a 10-day ‘instructor’s course’. All students on that course have had significant field experience in the outdoors, were already qualified in an 80-hour Wilderness First Responder course and are currently ‘re-certified’ in the same.
